Before finishing Diesel 1, I took a weekend job as a truck mechanic for a shipping company that owned its own fleet. The company had no shortage of work. My education from the FCTC Diesel program was applicable from day one and continued as I specialized in doing engine work. The trucking industry suffers from a shortage of truck mechanics and an even greater shortage of good ones. The quality instruction by Diesel and Automotive helped me become a competent, professional mechanic. After leaving school I have continued studying how vehicles work and how to fix and maintain them and passed the certification tests necessary to become an ASE certified master technician for medium to heavy trucks as well as automobiles.
